If the SPOC of your OBP company received an email from EMVO informing that one or more field of PMD(s) uploaded by your OBP are ‘Incorrect’, it means that at least one of the fields of the PMD has been populated with data which is not matching the requirements set out in the EMVS Master Data Guide and/or inconsistencies have been found within the provided PMD” (e.g. a Product Name contains the strength but the strength is not the one reported in the strength field).

Here is a reminder of the Product master Data Elements:

In Q2 2025 EMVO will focus the communication campaign on the following fields:

1. Common Name

2. Product Name

3. Strength

4. Pharmaceutical Form

Here are some examples of common errors:

  • The "Product name" field does not include the strength and/or pharmaceutical form

  • The "Product name" field includes the target market(s)

  • The "Common name" field includes the strength and/or pharmaceutical form

  • The strength provided in the "Strength" field is missing the unit of measure (e.g. "5" instead of "5ml")

Our current communication uses the following color code:

COLOR CODING

MEANING

RED

The data has been identified as ‘Incorrect’

AMBER

The data in 2 fields needs attention

  • Product Name and Common Name are amber: the Product Name and Common Name are duplicated. Please review them both to verify their correctness

  • Product Name and Strength are amber: there is a strength mismatch between the Product Name field and the Strength field

NO COLOR:

The data has not been identified as incorrect based on the rule applied in the current analysis; it does not mean that the data can be considered correct with 100% certainty

Code

Product Name

Common Name

Interpretation of the color coding

12345

Paracetamol Pharma 1g Tablets

Paracetamol 500mg

Product Name

This data is black cause none of the criteria used for the analysis picks this as incorrect data

Common Name:

This data is red cause is identified as for sure incorrect (reason is: it contains numbers)

15678

Paracetamol Pharma 1g Tablets

Paracetamol Pharma

Product Name

This data is black cause none of the criteria used for the analysis picks this as incorrect data

Common Name:

This data is black cause none of the criteria used for the analysis picks this as incorrect data. However, this remains incorrect data as the common name should not contain the Company name

19865

Paracetamol Pharma

Paracetamol Pharma

Both Product Name and Common Name are amber cause the Product Name and the Common Name contain exactly the same information. The OBP should check both to verify their correctness.

We invite you to consult section 5 of the EMVS Master Data Guide (based on current version, v9.0) for further guidance over how to populate each PMD field.

If your Product does not fulfill the requirements of the EMVS Master Data Guide, please contact the EMVO Helpdesk with a screenshot of how the relevant fields are reported in the SMPC.

If some of your products are inactive or no longer marketed, please send the list of affected code(s) to the EMVO Helpdesk.
