The purpose of adding alert rules in the AMS Portal is to allow OBPs to filter when alerts contain serial numbers which do not comply with the rules applied.

For instance, if an OBP/MAH informs the AMS Portal that the SNs must be 12-14 characters long, when an alert is raised with a 20 characters long SN, and the user filter for "show mismatches only" then this alert will be shown as it does not comply with the inputted parameter.
